Introduction

Task one - Role of line manager in Organization

Since last twenty years or so the responsibilities and functioning of the line managers has witnessed comprehensive alteration. Experts close to this profession are observed of given suggestion the line managers must be endow with additional responsibility of managing their employees and to condense the burden from the shoulders of human resource department. According to (Gassmann et al, 2010) it has been observed that in most of organization responsibility of managing employees are being equally distributes among both Human resource department and line managers.

Meanwhile, according to (Hodgkinson et al, 2006) the extent to which human resource department operation occupy and endow functioning to line managers instead of personal expertise. In a normal perspective a line managers of the organization perform daily operational activities of human resource such as (pay scale, awards distribution, training, motivation, and others). On the other hand, by dividing the responsibilities HR manager are now able to give additional time to other crucial aspects of organization like (strategic planning, relationship management, and others).

Experts have given various reasons because of which line management has gained so much importance in the profession of human resource management. For instance, one reason could be that in prevailing competitive environment it has become important for HRM to formulate a wide-ranging strategy, as it would enable them to fulfill their responsibility in appropriate manner. Another important reason is that the industry primary focus is shifted towards providing quality services to customers, benefits, and flexibility and for that, employees are playing a vital role as they have direct interaction with customers and works under the management of line manager (Lüscher & Lewis, 2008).

It is an unending fact the in modern era most of the decision has to taken at instant time to satisfy the need of loyal customers and to gain advantage of opportunities available in the industry, however, emphasizing on HR department to take those decision would take time and this could end up having a negative impact on organizational performance. The next section of the report provides detail illustration of the responsibilities held by line managers in Apple Company.

Role and contribution of line management in Apple Inc

Apple Company is known as the largest manufacturer and sellers of computer and mobile technology across the globe. Since its incorporation, company has achieved tremendous success and growth primarily because of its quality products and innovative leadership (Mantere, 2008). However, according to the management of the company, current success is because of not only leadership and products but it is because of the hard work, loyalty, and determination of our employees and their subordinates or line managers of the organization.
