Introduction

Bullying is a form of aggression that takes place in the context of a relationship. The young person who commits acts of intimidation uses aggression and control to maintain a position of power over the victim. Over time, the imbalance of power in the relationship and its dynamics are strengthened. The victim becomes trapped in an abusive relationship. This problem can also occur between groups of young people (Smith & Brain, 2000).

The key elements of bullying:

imbalance of power: younger people have more power than the other (at least that is how young people in bullying perceive);

hurtful acts: acts committed hurtful in terms of being physical or psychological ;

Direct and indirect actions: acts committed hurtful to the victim;

Repetitive behavior: The hurtful actions are repeated, so that the young person or the victim is more difficult to get out.

In our literature review we will analyse five different articles on the topic of bullying in middle school. The problem here is to understand factors that highlight what bullying actually is, also the role parents and guardians can play in order to reduce bullying while finding out interventions to combat and reduce bullying.

Research Questions

The questions that the research proposal will study are stated below:

What is bullying and what are its key elements?

What are the factors that highlight the role of bullies?

What interventions should be taken to reduce bullying?

What role should adults and parents play in order to help in reducing bullying?

Literature Review

Factors That Highlight The Role Of Bullies

Bullying is a form of bullying group. There are those who bully, those who are victims of the bully and those who to avoid being a victim join the herd (Davidson & Demary, 2007). There are 22 out of 100 children from first to third graders who have experienced some sort of bullying, such as removal of toys or snacks. The index increased to 30 per cent in fourth and fifth grade, which comes to an average of 45. And if you look at the issue of socialization at the base of bullying, it has been seen that it is a serious inconvenience in 16 per cent of children in first and third grade, and 23 of those attending the fourth and fifth grades. And the index increases with age in which another problem is the difficulty of attributing a role in the child of the adult authority (Holt, Finkelhor & Kantor, 2007).

Several studies on the subject have pointed out some factors that may predispose some students to assume the role of bullies. They think that the arrogance pay, in some school bullies are admired by others, are able to get what they want and are less likely than others to be victimized. They are aggressive and impulsive, which makes them constitutionally more inclined to take up a bully behavior.
