Introduction

Americans are not particularly enthusiastic about paying taxes, and they have never actually been. The worst thing is when you are asked to pay taxes without having anything to say about what the money will be used for what's called "taxation without representation". It was exactly what happened when the British demanded new taxes for certain products - including tea - from residents of colonies in the Americas.
