Book Review - The Gift of Sex: A Guide to Sexual Fulfillment

Introduction

The book, The Gift of Sex: A Guide to Sexual Fulfillment is divided into thirty seven chapters and these thirty seven chapters are categorized into five sections. This paper will attempt to give an overview driven analysis of the book. Since the book has been divided into an expansive series of chapters, the discussion will continue to present the summary of the five chapters and explore each chapter in subsequence.

The book begins with the presentation of a preface in which the authors have presented a unique picture into their personal lives. Going through the preface provides the understanding that the composition of the book comes forth as a result of extensive personal experience and an intensive close observation of the relationship between sex, marriage and religion. The authors have allowed the reader to feel comfortable with the idea of reading about sex. Furthermore, the preface also provides the reader with the opportunity to understand the approach that the authors have taken. In other words, the authors have chosen to use the preface to invite the reader into the frame of mind in which the book was written and meant to be perceived.

This chapter has been divided into multiple sub-headings; each of which addresses a unique area in which the book can be of use. It merits highlighting that the authors have chosen to highlight three perspectives that every reader should consider when going through the book (Tiefer, 2006). This approach tends to reflect on the intention of the authors to ensure that there is no room left for misinterpretation. However, an element that becomes prominent by this point in the book serves to show that the authors have consistently chosen to address the Biblical perspective of sex. It is clear that the authors consider the Biblical perspective to be of importance.

The third chapter (falls in the first section) of the book and presents sexuality and the act of sex as a gift of God. The chapter falls under the first section of the book. It merits highlighting at this point that the first section of the book has been designed to give undivided ...
