Abstract

The following paper is basically a book review of the book written by Clifford Penner in 2003 by the name of The Gift of Sex: A Guide to Sexual Fulfillment. As the title of the book reveals that this book is all about the male female relationship from love to marriage and from marriage to sex. The author mentioned that it is natural to attracted by the opposite gender and having sex among them is the scared thing. Further elaboration is given in the paper, as the readers go through the different chapters, they will have a clear and better idea.

Introduction

The book The Gift of Sex: A Guide to Sexual Fulfillment by Dr. Clifford and Joyce Penner is a thorough and explicit guide to a healthy sexual relationship between a husband and wife. It is accurately written, and distinctly Christian. It is explicit in the sense that words such as vagina, clitoris, penis, ejaculation, and masturbation are used. This should not be alarming for the reader. The reader can be assured in knowing that the Penner's use these words appropriately and tactfully. This review will give an ever so brief chapter by chapter breakdown of The Gif of Sex. The main theme of each chapter will be shown, and this “outline” will help future readers appreciate this book better.

A Biblical Perspective (Chapter 3 and 4)

The chapter 3 of the book is all about the Sexuality is a Gift from God. The authors presented their idea in a very sophisticated manner in this chapter that the worlds of theology and sexuality are commonly viewed as being miles apart. People tend to think of themselves as being divided into two parts, body and soul, with the soul being the good part and the body the evil or bad part. However, to make a clear judgment, Clifford gave reference of the bible but yet he mentioned that 'Although the Bible is not an instruction book for sexual functioning, it gives a clear picture of the God's value and His high regard for the sexual relationship in marriage'.

For example, as mentioned above, in our bodies every part works perfectly. The body is a machine and absolutely unique synchronized every day. But unfortunately, as in all things, man has been charged with ruin, respiratory system is contaminated with vices like smoking, and alcohol digestive, and so goes on. But one of the things that man has done its worst damage is in sexuality.

Similarly, keeping the same pace as set in the third chapter, Clifford make a really good effort in highlighting the religious view regarding the sexuality, therefore, the chapter four all based on the 'What the Bible says about Sexuality'. The author began the chapter by stating that when God created man, not only put an apparatus player to fill the earth with people, but he did erogenous parts for sex to be enjoyed by men and women, and that is through superb fusion occurred complementation so unique that couples ...
