Mobile Phone Companies and Blood Minerals in Congo Africa
Introduction
This essay has focused on the serious concern of blood minerals that are being used brutally by the mobile phone companies. The main emphasis of this essay is on the emergence and continuous innovations that are coming along with technological advancements. With the use of technologically advanced products such as cell phones, no one even bother to think that there can be something wrong or unethical with such useful devices and high technology such as "smart" mobile or portable generation. We prefer to think that there is nothing wrong, that merely improve our communication and make our life easier. But as in many other things, it is important to look beyond the appearance and discover a part of these technologies that is neither beautiful nor brilliant that is required to be taken under serious consideration (Baregu, 2002, pp. 13-25). This essay is an effort towards the responsible use of new technologies to help people make informed decisions with the rest of the planet, with animals and with literally millions of people who do not enjoy the benefits of these advances, but basically only pay costs.
The matter of the fact is how these mobile phone companies are manipulating minerals in the use of cell phone technology more advanced and sleek. The use of coltan by the mobile phone companies has reached at its extreme and the manufacturers do not even take it serious that they are actually playing with the blood minerals (Eichstaedt, 2011, pp. n.d.). They have been obtaining this material from Congo. What actually is coltan and how it has been used by the mobile phone companies is highlighted in the essay. However the response of the mobile phone companies in this regard has also been discussed.
