Biological and Psychological Theories

Introduction

The aim of this paper is to compare and contrast the biological and psychological theories. The paper describes the psychological and biological theories. The major goal of the paper was contained the investigators in different areas of biology and psychology and its theories of different scholars. The paper focuses on biological consideration with current psychological theories. Furthermore, the developmental and psychological perspective is also discussed. Thus, the paper is organized around the theme of comparison between psychology and biology.

Theories of Crime

Pre-scientific stage

Even before the publication of the famous work "Lombroso" is often cited as the birth of modern empirical criminology, had already formulated many theories on crime. At this stage, pre-scientific, there are two distinct approaches because of the method of its sponsors:

Classic Approach

The product of Enlightenment ideas of the Reformers and the "Classic" Criminal Law is the model that goes to an abstract method and deductive, formal.

Empirical Approach

The crime investigations are carried out in piecemeal fashion specialists from diverse backgrounds (physiognomists, phrenologists, anthropologists, psychiatrists, etc.). It includes Replacing speculation, intuition and deduction analysis, observation and induction (Empirical Inductive Method.)

Comparison

Criminologists in developing the theory and conduct research to understand and explain criminal behavior. The theory attempts to understand the many disparate observations (or facts) to show the general principle that unites and integrates explains. Good theory is an extremely valuable because it extends our knowledge beyond the facts before us (baseline). Criminological theories established on psychology, biology, at a key moment in this area, but the huge majority of modern criminological text uses sociological research and theory. Biological and psychological explanations will be discussed in the next test, but will not focus on sociological theory.

Criminology not only advances the development of a comprehensive and coherent theory of the crime and its causes, as well as for collecting and analyzing observations of the social world in relation to these theories. In general, the data generated by different forms of data collection and reviewed the various forms of data analysis. Various data is partly a reflection of the diversity of issues addressed and the oversupply of aspects of this type of problems that are to explore various theoretical approaches. Biological explanations of crime assert that particular individuals are more prone to deviance than others because of their genetic makeup (Dr. Imogene, 2003).
