Introduction

The manner in which the behavioral, behavioral and psychological development of children takes place is an extremely important process. Every individual should have some knowledge of how children perceive the worlds as they are growing up and how theirminds process data and formulate ideas. By gaining an understanding of the unique thought patterns of developing children, adults, especially parents and counselors such as teachers, are better able to foster their growth and facilitate them in their behavioral and cognitive development.

All children develop in very different and unique ways from one another.Therefore, it is important not to measure them using the same yardstick. Treating all children using a singular, identical and pre-defined approach is not the best approach to enhance their development.The human development model outlines the basic tenets that define the way children grow. This primary aim of this paper is to explain the importance of the Bioecological Model of Human Development, the various systems that govern the development of humans and the differences between each of these systems.

Urie Bronfenbrenner is regarded as the leading scholar of the world for his tremendous contributions to the sophisticated field of developmental psychology.His Bioecological Model of Human Development is basically a theoretical system which propagates the theory that the development of humans is determined according to the influence of myriad environmental factors and systems and that these have a direct and fundamental effect on human developmentover the passage of time.Hence, the Bioecological Model of Human Development is based on the theory that rather than taking place in seclusion and isolation, the development of human beings is the brainchild of numerous factors that exist in the environment around them(Bornstein & Lamb, 2005).

The Bioecological system is different from other systems that have been used for similar purposes because it defines human development as a phenomenon of change as well as continuity in the biopsychological character attributes of humans, both personally and collectively. According to Urie Bronfenbrenner, this phenomenon continues throughout the length of a human life. The Bioecological Model iterates that there are various factors in the physical environmental setting of humans that affect their development.

Leading influencing factors identified in the model

The five leading factors that the model identifies to play an integral role in human development are the family, school, home, society and community. The Bioecological Model was created to serve humans in gaining a deeper insight into how the development of human beings begins. The various stages defined in the model are based on concepts that have been borrowed from renowned and revered scholarslike Piaget, Gardner and Erikson, all of whom belongedto different schools of thought (Bornstein & Lamb, 2011).The cognitive development that humans experience throughout the earlier part of their lives was introduced in these models.
