To what kingdom would a single-celled, nucleated, photosynthetic organism belong?

Answer: The Kingdom is the top category of scientific classification of organisms introduced by Linnaeus in the eighteenth century. Originally considered natural things in the world were divided into three kingdoms:

Mineral

Animalia - the “animals” (with movement itself) and

Plantae - the “plants” (no movement)

The kingdoms are subdivided into phyla (for the animal kingdom) or division (for plants). When they discovered the unicellular bodies, these were divided between the two kingdoms of living organisms.

What clues indicate that dogs are more closely related to cats than to lizards?

Answer: In the original Linnaean Taxonomy, called worm to any animals with body elongated and without skeleton or shell, no members, although it may have appendages reduced surface for locomotion.

Examples of animals commonly called worms:

the flatworm (Platyhelminthes)

the earthworm (Annelida)

the roundworm (Nematoda)

Invertebrate

The term invertebrate is not entirely correct scientifically, but means all those beings who do not belong to the subphylum Vertebrata, or are being endowed with notochord, neural tube with dorsal position in relation to the gut and pits gill level of the pharynx. The difference is that in vertebrates, notochord is a substituted or framed structure called the spine, hence the name vertebrate. Therefore, dogs and cats are invertebrates that indicate that dogs are more closely related to cats than to lizards, as lizards are categorized as worms.

What features are common and distinct between plants and fungi?

Answer: Molecular Evidence suggests that the location of the fungi would be closer to animals than to plants or protists (eukaryotic organisms that are distinct from the kingdoms: Fungi-Fungi, Animalia, Animals, Plant-Plant).

The common form in which the fungi are vegetative life consists of filaments with a wall having approximately cylindrical shape. They are called plural hyphae, forming mycelia when grouped or progression.

Some fungi are simple cells in their vegetative life cycle called yeasts. These yeasts are capable of degrading enzymes, sugars, producing fermentation. Fermentation is used to produce alcohol by acting on starch containing substrates.

What was the important scientific contribution of Carl Linnaeus?

Answer: Linnaeus's contribution to biology was the creation of binomial nomenclature or binary consisting designates every living with the two names. First corresponding to the genus and is capitalized, and second concerning the species is lower-cased. Gender and Species scientific name is called, but also each species is designated by a common name, ...
