Between Integrity and Despair: Toward Construct Validation of Erikson's Eighth Stage



Abstract

Erikson has presented the view of the way people see their life in the later stages i.e. when they grow old. According to him, all people are either satisfied with their life or have a feeling of dissatisfaction. He had explained these ideas as Integrity and Despair. However, research has shown that people may fall in between these two extremes and have varying beliefs regarding they way they has spent their lives.
