Introduction

The issue of the prevalence of behavioral problems among children has been a rising concern for the population living across the globe. There are various categories as well as factors of behavioral problems among children that are likely to occur amongst the children of all ages (Gupta, 1999, pp. 28-53). The commonly known, behavioral problems in children belongs to a wide category of disorders which commonly dominate in the particular educational settings and are grouped into an array of particularly perceived difficulties of the adolescents and children. These disorders are aroused form the mental health problems of children which, ultimately, transfer into their conduct, behavior and attitudes.

The issues of conduct and behavior problems are the major health issues for the reason that the youth possessing these problems imposes grave psychological and physical harms on others and they themselves are prone to the greater risks of depression, anxiety, suicide, substance abuse, incarceration and death by homicide. This type of condition covers various forms of the main misconducts. These disorders of behaviors and general conduct ultimately, turn into disruptive personality disorder linked with psychopathic behavior, after the child becomes adult (Gupta, 1999, pp. 28-53). This essay will discuss the overall issue of behavioral problem among children and its effects on them.

Discussion

Behavioral problems in children occur due to one or more factors. It is a fact that children generally reluctant to respond or react immediately to the event occur in their surroundings. Just like other learning disabilities and shortcomings in a child's potential, it is sometimes very difficult to discover and diagnose the learning abilities. This is because such disorders rarely present any physical discrepancies or symptoms in the body which might be identifiable or measurable. Therefore, the identification and diagnosis of the normal behavioral problems is performed by observing and examining the varying patterns of the child's behavior and attitude over a period of time (Suveg & Furr, 2006, p. 488). Some of the behavioral problems can be identified through the below mentioned behaviors of children:

They tend to be aggressive in behavior towards human beings and animals and are perceived as cruel by others.

They take pleasure in destroying the property at home and school defacing the desks of classroom, vandalism and other related activities.

They are unable to exhibit any sort of concern, empathy and remorse for other fellows.

Taking responsibility for bad behavior and stealing and lying becomes their habits.

They tend to be openly defiant and show no regard for the rules and regulations.

The concept of behavior problems is very common in the field of personality disorders among children. The behavioral problems usually occur in the children during their adolescence or even in childhood. The behavior of such children can be a source of problems at home and school, and is most likely to interfere with their relationships (Steinberg, 2005, p. 69).
