Topic 1: Responsibilities to the Field and to Colleagues

It was during the late hours when I was serving overtime that I found out Ms. Jones, who has been serving as the nurse since six years now, inappropriate behavior towards the patient she was assigned to. Working for six years now, she was never been seen to be such harsh with her patients and on the contrary patients were usually seen as developing a liking for her. Serving a 12 year old, when he asked for water, Ms. Jones out rightly refused saying he must sleep now as he would be woke early in the morning for the physiotherapy session. It is not acceptable seeing that the patient is developmentally disabled and being presented with a nurse to look after them and help them in such times. Despite asking several times, Ms. Jones did not come up with positive response later reverting to scaring the child into sleeping; which could effectively be categorized under abuse of the patient. Although, normally seen as being polite and helping to the patients, such attitude by Ms. Jones could be attributed to her financial crisis as a result of which she is usually forced into doing overtime, and being tired due to working such long hours, she usually use such tactics so as to get away without serving her patients and tending to their needs.

To bring such violation into the attention of the colleague, I would like to show her the clip that has been recorded on the Close Circuit Television (CCTV), which would effectively highlight the ethical violation undertaken on her part. Through referring to the clip or the video, I could easily build the explanation outlining my concerns for the inappropriate and unethical behavior demonstrated by Ms. Jones of not tending ...
