Autobiographical research paper - The influences of race as it relates to my community
Introduction
I have always felt that race has had a great degree of influence on the way in which my resident society has evolved. I realize that the current form of the world does not give any room to racially motivated actions and decisions; however, I have always noticed that the affects of racial separation are present at a passive level (Kendall, 2007). Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race, ethnicity, or nationality are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that ethnic differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Racism's effects are called racial discrimination (Fenton, 2010). In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or receive preferential treatment. In this paper, I will attempt to highlight how racial differences influence my community. In order to do so, I will highlight the nature of interactions and social relationships between my community leaders and members (Fenton, 2010). To give my paper a comprehensive and strong foundation, I will ensure that I carry out my discussion in the context of the people around me; with whom I interact on a daily basis. By doing so, I will attempt to highlight that individuals belonging to different races are perceived as equals in my community but the need for the development of this perception still remains.
I will analyze the presence of race in my community in the context of the similarities and differences that are present across the people of my community. I will discuss the manner in which different people are treated by my community members and leaders. I will also highlight whether my texts or work manuals contain information by or about people like me and the similarities and differences between me and the people who are in leadership positions in my community. The discussion will also explore the representation of minority group interests within my community. The discussion will come to a concluding note by exploring how I would attempt to resolve any inequities within my community and which main concepts from the text relate to race.
Similarity between me and my community members
Most of the members of my community look like me. I am Caucasian and most of my community members also belong to the same race. However, there are quite a few people who belong to different races. Individuals belonging to different races are present in almost every area of my community. It is essential to note that these members of my community do not necessarily look like me. There are clearly visible differences in terms of physical features and habitat. For instance, apart from skin complexion, members belonging to different races can be observed to be different on account of the distinct nature of dressing that some of them choose to ...
