Discussion

This is a case study of Susan, whose father died of the assisted suicide. Susan was always in favour of assisted suice3d till the death of her father as a result of assisted suicide. She always had thought that assisted suicide should be legalized and it should be allowed. His father was against his opinions, and he always thought that assisted suicide is an illegal act. Later, Susan's father had diagnosed with metastatic head and neck cancer in 2002. With the passage of time, his condition became severe. The time came when his illness increased, and he stopped moving. At that time, Susan's father had made decision that he wants to go for assisted suicide and terminate his life. Susan tried to give him cure and healthcare facilities, but things could not have become better. Therefore, she also supported her father's decision. At last, his father could not bear his pain and died of the assisted suicide. After his death, Susan felt that it was a wrong decision, and she could have provided more support to her father. She realised that she could have waited and provided her father more healthcare facilities. Thus, now Susan thinks that her opinion in favour of legalizing assisted suicide was a wrong opinion.

During the time of the illness of her father, Susan faced many challenges. She had left her family including her husband and a child. She sacrificed everything and her personal life, in order to take care of her father. She was very much worried, and made all possibilities to take care of her father, and provide him the best healthcare facilities. It was also a challenge for her to accept his father's decision about adopting the assisted suicide.

How I Would Respond To the Tragic and Difficult Issue?

This was a very tragic situation, and it needs much stamina to bear situations like this. Susan's father has felt many problems and he was suffering from different illness. He became bedsore, and there came a time when he stopped moving. There came a time when Susan's father made decision of assisted suicide. At last, Susan had to accept the decision of her father, and helped him in the assisted suicide. This is a very difficult situation, and decision making in such situations is very difficult. Thus, if I was in such situation, my decision would have been different. I would not have acted in such a way (Hendin, 2008). I would not go in favour of the decision of assisted suicide.”The CCD explains the reasons for his opposition to legalizing ...
