Managerial leadership

Professional organizations are considered the backbone of any country. They generate revenue and add that money in the national income. Apart from that, they create employment opportunities for the people of that country. Human resource capital is considered pivotal for survival of these organizations. For these organizations to attain organizational goals leadership is necessary. Leadership provides direction to employees and guide them in decision making. Every organization follows its own leadership style. One of the leadership styles which are followed by most organizations is transformational leadership in which leaders and followers coordinate and cooperate with each other to achieve higher level of motivation and morals. The transformational leadership style is based on leader's personality, values and expertise to bring a change in the organization. Transformational leaders follow the ideals which benefit the whole organization (Anderson & Anderson 2002,p.131).

Transformational leadership

Many researchers have examined the effects of transformational leadership which depicts, higher employee standing of effectiveness and satisfaction. It has also been observed that transformational leaders are promoted more often and generate better financial results. It also increases the group performance and enhances the trust of subordinates. More significantly, managers who perform well at their jobs are seen as adopting transformational leadership style at their organizations. This is what distinguishes transformational leadership from all other leadership styles (Bass et.al, 1996,p.33).

There is a moral dimension in the transformational approach which differentiates is all other approaches to leadership. Considering the effectiveness of transformational leadership, it is worth mentioning that it also deals with other issues such as, development of morals which instils transformational leadership style in individuals. There is no criticism on Transformational Leadership style because it has been seen moving organizational towards progress. This leadership style brings about a new vision with changing values and principles through which organizational objectives are achieved. It underscores the role of leaders in different situations and makes comparison. It identifies that to what extent the leader has control over the particular situation. It is necessary to face complex situations which leaders face in the organizations (Carless 1998,p.890).

Gender role in leadership styles

Leadership involves cohesion, coordination and cooperation of leaders with all the other members of the organization. Open collaboration with the individuals includes emotional regulation and awareness which affect the process of interaction. Leaders who are most competent are seen with high emotional intelligence. It means the decisions they make are more concerned with emotions than facts. In other words, emotional intelligence is imperative to become a leader. Many organizational leaders consider emotional intelligence indispensable to become a great leader. It plays a vital role at the top hierarchy of the company where less importance is given to technical skills.
