Introduction

The article on the coping strategies discusses the role of parents in supporting the autistic children in assimilating in the normal social environment. Childbirth is a joyful experience and a blessing for most parents. However, knowing that one child is disabled can be very painful for the family. With autistic children can be devastating and heartbreaking for parents. Children with autism show a variety of symptoms, ranging from the serious deterioration in the use of nonverbal behaviours (eye contact, etc.) that govern social interaction in the failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to the age. They may also show unusual responses to sensory stimuli, as observed in the absence of responses to pain or increased sensitivity to light or certain sounds. The critical commentary will focus in detail the coping strategies that are most effective for parents to support the pre school children in the educational and social setting.

The Critical Commentary

Hastings et el (2005), determine strategies for parents to cope with stress associated with autism by raising the child's measured Carver (1997) the storage situation of a short form necessary to cope (Carver et al., 1989). Carver and his colleagues developed the multidimensional inventory flexible to meet a wide range of applications, and applied psychology. Children, parents understand that there is no cure for autism, but there are procedures and educational approaches that may reduce some of the problems. Autism is a spectrum disorder, which means that the traits and characteristics can appear in various combinations, from mild to severe. So no one method alone is usually effective (Hastings et el, 2005, 11-19).

The study shows that four key dimension of adaptation are important for parents to raise a child with autism. Active avoidance coping and problem-focused coping seem to identify very clearly the typical sense of focusing on a report by focusing on the concept of a high incidence of stress and coping research (e.g., by Folkman and Lazarus, 1980). Problem-focused coping in this study was not associated with parents' stress and mental health. However, the avoidance of active coping was associated with more stress and mental health problems in both mothers and fathers. This information is to repeat the results of previous research suggesting avoiding adaptation that is an approach that supports people with autism to cope with the demands to raise other dimension of coping identified by factor analysis may be more specific demands of coping with a disabled child or a child with autism. What are the positive side is to collect evidence that positive reframing and stressful and potentially traumatic events can be one of the few effective coping strategies in extreme environments, where it is very difficult to directly mitigate the effects of the stressor (Hastings et el, 2005, 11-19).

Autism is also referred to as Kanner's syndrome, named after Leo Kanner, who in 1943 first published a case study paper including 11 subjects with autistic symptoms. He also coined the term “infantile autism” both of which ...
