The discussion in this paper reflects the crucial evaluation of my understanding about the issues concerning business activities of MNC's and the concept of ethical leadership.
The topic under study relates to conversion and change. The given passage is related to the changing organizations in a way that it states, that in order to adapt change, people should support you. Likewise, in an organization, change becomes difficult if the employees resist change.
The passage relates to army. It states that no matter how much respectful one is, in order to enter in a new province, goodwill of people should be there. If the people resist, it would be difficult to maintain (Zadek 2004, p. 132).
The passage states the story of Louis XII of France who was gaining control of Milan and eventually lost it the same way. The reason was the same that is the inhabitants were not ready to accept the new ruler when they realized that their hopes and expectations will not be fulfilled.
The passage concludes that having goodwill of public for a prince makes the work easy. However, non-acceptance of people results in conspiracy. Prince who is wise can satisfy his people easily and, this should be his core task.
The topic under study relates to the passage in the context of organizational change. Similar to the discussion in the passage, and question, the topic discussion relates to the issues concerning the business activities of MNC's with respect to organizational change (Horwitz, Heng & Quazi 2003, p. 44). Organizational change depends on the employee's readiness. If the employees resist, change becomes difficult.
Organizational change is a realignment of the organization's structure technical, political, and cultural to meet the changing demands of its environment. Leadership is a fundamental prerequisite to the creation of a supportive climate for change. In an organization, formal leadership manifests itself at the board of directors and the executive director levels (Goyal 2006, p. 166). Leadership also found throughout the organization including staff. The extent to which an organization is adaptable and flexible and undertakes ongoing planning, asset-based development, training, and organizational learning, will determine its success. Leadership, alignment, and adaptation capacities all interact with each other and play key roles in the dynamics of organizational change.
