The dermatology department attends mostly patients having problems with their skins, particularly the facial problems and skin infections. Other than that, patients of vitiligo, acne, eczema, mycosis fungoides (cutaneous T-cell lymphoma), psoriasis, and skin cancer are also treated. Most common cases are reported with skin infections. In diagnoses and treatment, Electronic Health Record (HER) system is used. Furthermore, we use telemedicine for helping analyze complex problems of dermatology at isolated sites. Referrals are also received and provided for above 100 associated dermatologists nationwide. There is no specialty group in the hospital for treatment and diagnosis. However, the department itself has been working as a specialized dermatologist team. Recently, our dermatology department has identified a case of skin cancer which was caused by the improper and inconsistent skin treatment of chemical reactions on the face and back due to dangerous work environment in the chemical company. The intensity of the case was identified by the dermatologists and the patient was admitted immediately for treatment under the hospital staff.
Oncology
Our oncology department has been working with main focus on cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Cases of breast cancer are the most common cases that have been reported in the department. Hospital uses HER system as a significant tool for screening which records the medical history: the complaints character and any particular symptom (paraneoplastic phenomena, fever of unidentified origin, unexplained anemia, weight loss, fatigue and other symptoms). In diagnosis of the cancer cases, on the basis of the identified cancer, follow-up and palliative care is administered (Ofman, et al., 2004). In some cases (for example AML or ALL) we need instant admission and chemotherapy, whereas others are followed-up through regular assessment and blood tests.
Sometimes, for removing the entire tumor, surgery is required. Most of the treatments include the use of monoclonal antibody treatments, particularly for Rituximab (lymphoma), and Trastuzumab (breast cancer). Immune therapies and vaccine are the intensive research subject. Currently, a case of breast cancer was reported, in which cancer was at initial stage and the patient was a young lady. Our oncologists immediately started the radical treatment for her cancer. With the help of staff and HER system, they identified the cancer stage (it was not spread to other body parts), the type, levels of progesterone-receptor and estrogen-receptor in the tumor tissue, prevalence of cancer in other breast, and the general health and age of patient.
