Introduction

In 1998, Mayor Schell has proposed a concept to reduce or eradicate the issue of homelessness in Seattle. He mentioned in his policy about women, children and homeless families who do not have adequate resources to spend in a comfort zone. He inquired to city council to provide extensive support and immediate assistance at the time of need. In Christmas festival, he made a pledge that none of the homeless families has observed in Seattle. For this the state had proposed two significant property taxes that charged to the stabilized families. The money which has attained from established families has used for poor peoples. The taxes amount has further used for providing them full assistance, shelter, and food, which have extensively enhanced their contention level. This promise accumulated mass consideration as it was run in both neighborhood daily papers and media broadcasts. Homelessness is considered as most pathetic situation that can reduce the confidence level and enhance the frustration situation of suffered families.

Discussion

The four policy choices Mayor Schell made as a part of his strategy for the homelessness were to:

Policy one was about maintaining the sanctuary limit not expanding it. Each year there were many vagrants that were dismissed because of the absence of space. For this, the mayor had used strong tactics for evaluating the accurate possibilities of homeless families. By doing this it might take into account the assets to be accessible to different administrations consequently serving to enhance the systems for the homeless.

Policy two was to help individuals recover long-haul steadiness. Mayor Schell realized that being in homeless families was just transient fix. The mayor main objective was to evaluate homeless families, for example livelihood administrations and transitional lodging (Norton, 2010).

Policy three was to be more proactive in anticipating homelessness. There could be over 1,300 individuals that might be homeless on any night in Seattle and 700 of the aforementioned are families. The absence of reasonable lodging is one of the fundamental purposes behind the expanding amounts of vagrants in Seattle. Helping these families and people with reasonable lodging could comprehend some of this concern. Obviously there will be adjusting life circumstances and tough times that happen in life that make these unforeseen circumstances.

Policy four was about reasoning must move with the goal that there is an agreement that safe houses are for crisis lodging and every singular or family is best served by arrangement in changeless lodging. At last, the objective is to house the homeless before there's the need for them to head off to havens and making a contact between those served and organizations giving steady assets for dependable lodging and apparatuses to help them arrive at financial security (Tong 2011).
