Theology - Hermeneutics

The term Hermeneutics is derived from the Greek word hermeneutikos which means to interpret, declare, announce, clarify and finally translate. It means that something is understood or carried back to understanding. The Biblical Hermeneutics is the science of understanding biblical texts, an applied form of general hermeneutics. In this paper Luke 6:20-26, Acts 8: 4-25, 1st Corinthians 11:27-32, Revelation 13:1-10, Matthew 25:1-13 and Matthew 5: 1-12will be interpreted.

Understanding Luke 6:20-26 in the Context of Luke's Gospel

In the Gospels, Jesus takes up the dual perspective, both economic and spiritual, it inherits from the Old Testament. The situation dependence on others and vis-à-vis God is that poverty invites courage and confidence, a dignified and humble attitude. The Church wanted, from departure fight against the rich / poor divide and stood against the domination the former over the latter. Material wealth and confidence in these riches come compete with God and exclude God, since it can serve two masters. The rich have "already had their happiness" they do not have much to hope, since their horizon is limited to the material world .With the promulgation of the Beatitudes, Jesus presents himself as the envoy of God's definitive implementing the promises made in favor of the poor, as affirmed by the prophecy of Isaiah that he read in the synagogue at Nazareth (4:16-21). The literary genre of bliss is not unknown to the Old Testament. In the Hebrew text of the Bible are enumerated Beatitudes 45, including 41 in the third person plural, which in the LXX become well. But while these prevailing wisdom perspective, geared to the attainment of happiness through the right behaviors, those of the Gospel are related to the proclamation of the kingdom of God which gives them a strong eschatological perspective.

The excerpt Lk 6.20 to 26 is the opening of the so-called Sermon on Jesus, which addressed the reversal of the current, earthly relationships which extends from Luke 6.20 to 49. Beatitudes start with the poor, hungry, and weeping and hated disciples among men. These Beatitudes follow woes, which addressed the red, well-fed, laughing and much fawned people. The opening is followed by the middle section, which includes the verses 27-38. He addressed the caution to love our enemies, He asked for the benevolence and mercy, which eventually meets the God's mercy. Although the message of Jesus was not always on provocation, it calls but out at all times contradiction and rejection .
