Introduction

This assignment aims to identify three human resource management strategies/practices of Google Inc. and analyze their impact on the organization's competitive strategy. The reason for choosing Google Corporation as the company to carry this assignment is because it is one of the leading organizations that are considered to be best for the employees.

Google Corporation is a technology based global company which focuses on making improvements in the way people search and use information. Google Corporation was formed in 1998 in Mountain View California. The company has been successful in growing itself to serve hundreds of thousands of consumers and users globally (Google Company, 2013). The company offers wide range of products and services to its customers around the globe including Gmail, Google Chrome, Google Mobile, Web Search, and Google Maps etc (Google Company, 2013). Most of the company's products and services are either no cost or low costs which are offered to the general public.

Discussion

The competitive strategy of the organization includes being innovative at every stage of business processes. The company is one of the leading organizations around the globe which use innovation has an ability of strengthening and focusing the corporate level strategies. The company offers search products to those consumer segments that are not covered by any of its competitors.

Effective management of human resources has become one of the most important aspects in almost all organizations within the fast paced and modern environment. It is important for organizations in today's world to plan and implement effective human resource strategies in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. Human resource can be a source of an organization's competitive advantage over competitors (Caliskan, 2010). Google's human resource management strategies play a key role in achieving its competitive strategy. Google has adopted human resource management strategies that enable the organization to reach its competitive strategy of being innovative. The employees of Google are provided with a culture that enables them to be innovative. The company respects the ideas of its employees. It encourages them to take part in the decision making process of the organization.

The concept of human resource management is referred to a strategic and coherent approach that enables an organization in managing people. People are most important assets for any kind of organization that seeks to survive and compete in today's global and competitive world. The human resource managers use strategies that ensure the achievement of an organization's strategic goals and objectives. They are responsible for motivating, encouraging and directing employees towards goal achieving behavior (Armstrong, 2008).
