Structural Components

A: The nonprofit, charitable, and voluntary sector is important to our society. The labels used to distinguish these organizations from government and private-sector corporations reveal their merits: nonprofit, accenting altruism and disregard of self-interest; charitable, referring to reliance on donations and generosity; and voluntary, indicating the significance of volunteers as a primary resource.

B: International Committee of Red Cross (commonly known as Red Cross) was established in 1863 as a non-profit social organization. Red Cross works under the head of The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is the world's largest humanitarian network. Main objective of the Red Cross is to protect life and health, assuage human suffering, and endorse human dignity (Schmid, 2008).

C: Functional operations of the Red Cross are segmented to improve efficiency in every country. Red Cross has organized its operations for the operational level in every country based on the need of support activities, which make it successful across the globe.

D: Formal organizations structure consisting of advocacy has important advantages over individuals or informal groups. In addition to economic resources, Red Cross gets ability to leverage the expertise of professional staff and volunteers, as well as their involvement in organizational networks.

E: Red Cross supported the development of international humanitarian law (IHL) to make basis for guiding its vision and mission. Red Cross has global operations, and present in nearly every country. Red Cross has segmented its operations in five regions. These include American region, African region, Europe and Central Asia region, Middle-East region, and Asia and Pacific region. Regional segmentation is followed by segmenting the region in country divisions. Red Cross has divided its five region operation in 80 countries to improve its performance.

Alternative Program Characteristics

A: Red Cross works on the principles of impartiality, voluntary service, humanity, neutrality, independence, and unity. Medical health promotion approach is being used by the ICRC across the globe. Red Cross has segmented its health promotion operations in five regions.

B: Red Cross organizing structure adds success value to the functioning of the organization. Organization domain development in every country makes the organization to timely address the social care needs in country based on occurrence of unexpected situation or during state of war.
