Food Safety, Due Diligence and Implementation Plan of a Quality Management System
Part 1
Introduction
The world is changing at faster and faster rates not only in terms of its demographics but also in terms of its demands. People now expect high quality products in low price which was traditionally considered trade-offs for one another and mutually exclusive decisions in most of the cases. However companies through their quality management systems and continuous improvement in these systems are successfully providing quality products with ever lower prices. One reason for these improvements is the increasing competition not only nationally but also internationally. Everything in the world now seems to be going digitized, which makes a faraway company a direct competitor to local company. Therefore, companies are looking for building perception in the minds of consumers. Researches have proven that, quality perception is the most influential perception in purchasing a brand (Aker, 1991, p. 89). Managing a brand is very difficult and specially building the image of its quality. It requires a long term commitment with consistency in operations and continuous improvements.
This paper discusses the quality management system in perspective of a growing fresh food processor company with the name “Markers Fresh Foods Ltd”. The company is seeking quality infusion in its products. In pursuit of this, the company in planning to undergo an extensive Quality Management System integrating a full HACCP system. This paper in two parts discusses its quality management system key elements and the implementation of same.
