Business Process Modeling

The analysis of business process models is mainly focused on the completeness of elements of reality to be modeled and which also can be represented within the form of a structure of organization (Scheer, 1994, P 1-3). The field of modeling considers aspects inherent in business processes and aspects of business process related information systems. Processes describe how work is done in the company and are characterized by observable, measurable and repeatable for improvement. Structurally, a business process is constituted by a set of activities (Korherr, 2008, P 10-11; Tennent, 2005, P 7-11).

Therefore, the activity, as basic element by relationships or dependencies with other activities forms the structure of a process business. In addition with this, BPM can also be explained as processes that can affect the different structures within organization which includes several types of stakeholders, and can be broken down into sub-processes (Holt, 2009, P 27-33, Hammer, 1990, P 11-17). Modeling process identifies the strengths of the business and those that need to be improved to increase the competitiveness and business agility (Davis, 2001, P 109-111).
