Introduction

Hesiod

Hesiod was the second most important ancient poet after Homer. Born in Askri of Boeotia, where his father fled from wind Kimi of Asia Minor, but the date of his birth is not known. Because he grew up in this rural environment and sacred poems have educational and religious content, while Hesiod in Greece came from the darkness of legend after he Ante issues not only by the imagination and from life thus bringing the poetry closer to humans (Clay, 2003, Pp.66).

Discussion

The Theogony is a poem by Hesiod describing, in contrast to other eastern people's cosmogonies, the origin of the gods of Greek mythology as they arose and stood on the human perception on early observations with the Earth (Gaia), the rivers, the vast sea, the bright stars and broad sky over all. Believed to have been written after the Homeric epics which are a source of theoretical computing project around 1000 - 700 BC The Theogony of Hesiod is an important source for ancient Greek mythology, which says almost all virtual deities revered and venerated the ancient Greeks. The poem consists of 1022 hexameter and starts from the first generation of gods, Chaos, Gaia, continues to Uranus, the Titans and ends gods of Olympus and domination.

Generations

The Theogony of Hesiod is a lengthy synthesis of a vast variety of local Greek traditions concerning the gods. The project is organized as a narrative that describes how the gods created creating early morality and legality classroom without legislation.

The first generation

Uranus mated with Gaia, born 12 Titans : the Ocean , by Coeus , the kray , the Hyperion , the Iapetus , the Divine , the Rhea , the Themis , the Mnemosyne , the Phoebe , the Tethys and Saturn , 3 Cyclopes : the Vrontis the Sterope and slow and finally 3 Hecatonchires : the Vriareas the chicken and Gyges .

The second generation

In the second generation on equilibrium forces, the Night and Erebus gave birth to sleep and Dreams and the evils of the world was the destruction, Gera, death, Eris, wickedness, misery, Nemesis. Gave birth but for the good of the world, joy, friendship and compassion.

The third generation

In the third generation followed a series of upheavals that include births, fights, etc. essentially it is major reform that led to the rise of the Olympian gods (Most, 2006, Pp.167).

Analysis
