Business Decision Making

1. Review and research management information systems in organisations and suggest appropriate information processing tools for operational, tactical and strategic levels of organisation.

Information System

The purpose of information system implementation within an organization is to improve efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. Information system capabilities and organizational characteristics, its member, working systems and it implementation methodology and development helps in determining criteria to, which purpose is achieved (Somasundaram 2009 Pp. 56-91).

An information system is a collection of data, software, and people. It process and design in a way to generate supporting information of daily activities for an organization ranging from short too long. Many businesses have different types of requirements regarding information. For e.g. a new business owner needs information to plan and identify ways to control the business activities. Information system helps an individual to express and convey the ideas about businesses to other. It also makes business easy.

I will discuss five major categories of Information system classifies as follows.

1. Office Information Systems

An office information system abbreviated OIS is an information system use as software hardware and networks to improve the flow of work and help to increase the communications among employees. OIS describes the automation system which helps in performing the task electronically by using computers and other electronic devices rather than working manually. Mostly office information system works well with the registration department and helps in maintaining the profile and scheduling the time. It overcomes the manual process of registration which requires photocopy and mail box service.

2. Transaction Processing Systems

Transaction processing system abbreviated as TPS is an information system helps in the process of data gathered from an organization every day transacts ions. It also helps the clerical staff who performs the everyday activities by recording the registration and receives and order from customers. It helps a lot in maintaining the customer's record of purchase and issues the receipt to a client. It was one of the first computerized systems prepared for processing business data. TPS helps in improving the customer service (Laudon 2002 Pp. 71-90).

3. Management Information System:

Management information system this system is well known in the information system and it is a combination of transaction processing system. As transaction processing system helps in recording sales and counts the level of inventory and helps in processing sales order, with the help of information gather by the TPS, Management information system generate the reports quickly about the daily sales activity which can benefit business for setting a criteria and strategy to achieve that criteria. It highlights the inventory which needs to be order for fulfilling clients order. TPS and MIS provide information on a regular basis.

4. Decision Support Systems

Decision support system helps in making decisions for its users whenever there is a situation which requires a sound decision making. Decision making is very essential for businesses therefore this information system can help a lot in business for making timely decisions.
