Health care provisions are essential for the survival and well-being of any society. In those societies where health care facilities are conveniently accessible to the common men, prosperity and harmony reigns supreme. The concept of health and social care is integrated together. Social care aims to develop abilities in people through which they can lead normal, independent lives like others. This is especially for individuals who are mentally handicapped and require additional assistance in terms of physical and mental activities. The concepts of health and social care have been given much importance in the recent times.
Every person dreams of Healthy life, but very few people adhere to a healthy lifestyle. Healthcare providers are responsible for providing healthcare services to citizens; however, they cannot directly control one's health. There are many diseases which are uncontrollable, and associated with one's family health background and age. However, large number of diseases spread due to unhealthy lifestyle choices. Primary healthcare providers do provide lifestyle interventions, but such interventions are guidelines which are limited due to limited funds. There are many unhealthy habits which lead to health issues. These habits include alcohol abuse, lack of physical activities, poor diet, smoking, sexual abuse, and other (Ginter 2002, pp. 112).
The National Health System (NHS) is responsible for British public health. Services provided include hospitals, doctors, specialists, dentists, pharmacists, opticians, and ambulances. UK has the best health care system. It provides the quality, efficiency, access to health services, gives healthy lifestyle. More than 27,000 patients and physicians were surveyed. According to that research despite the achievements in the UK, there is much room for improvement. The medicines, sight tests, glasses, and dental treatments are subsidized. Hospitalization, ambulance services, and medical consultations are free. Policy change has eroded the entitlement of UK residents to free state-provided healthcare, with a resulting rise in the use of the private sector.
The National Health Service provides services for free treatment for many diseases; some of the major diseases include Chronic heart disease, Lung Cancer and Liver cirrhosis. However all of these diseases could be prevented if people adopt a vigorous and healthy life style that is secure for them and their family. This has been a topic of hot debate, that people who do not adopt a safe and healthy life style should be provided free health services by the National Health Service organization or not. Is there a need to re-evaluation in the policy of the National Health Service (British Medical Association 2008, pp.12).
There has been concern for some time about the future of Health Care both in England and worldwide. Health Care had a chequered history under the New Labour government with policies to address health inequalities and build social cohesion sitting uncomfortably alongside an emphasis on individual behaviour change. Acknowledgement of specialized Health Care and its workforce has all but disappeared from policy discourse.
Analysis and Discussion
I do agree to some extent that the free health services should not be provided to the people, who themselves have adopted ...
