Liberal democracy is considered as a form of representative democracy in which the representatives elected hold power limited by the constitution. The representatives elected represent democracies, and they are elected by fair elections. Some also comprise of the federal republic or constitutional monarchies. Advocates of liberal democracy argue that politics and economics are different fields and that the rule of law, representative democracy is the best political system, since liberalism is the best economic principles. This separation, in fact, is a misunderstanding, according to analysis of the idea of democracy and the notion of power (Ronald, Thomas, 2001).

According to the Locke (1960), any power of a substantial government is economic or institutional. In both cases, it is a part of the organization and functioning of society. It is, therefore, political. Thus, in the expression of the degree of democracy, the large private holds some of the real powers of government in society. Democracy does not reach them because they are not accessible to people.

The constitution aims to protect the equality, rights and individual liberty of minority groups.

The liberties, which should be, protected consist of freedom of religion, private property rights and freedom of speech mentioned according to the rules of law.

These rights are also known as liberty rights, which are controlled, by statutory laws and institutions.

This democracy also prohibits majoritarianism which is ruling the majority to those in minority (Locke, 1960).

According to Locke (1960), democracy can be defined as the rule of the majority. On the other hand, it requires the equality of minority rights. Therefore, it has become necessary that the majority and minority rights must be protected equally. If, this is not considered that minority loses its meaning. In US, the rights of individuals are protected by Bill of Rights. These are adopted in the form of amendments of the constitution as drafted by James Madison. These rights in, a collective way, should not be violated by the Government, by safeguarding the minority and majority rights. These rights are considered as the most important feature of liberal democracy. The fear of liberal government lies in the fact that direct democratic government reflects the views of majority which can oppress the minority (John, 1960).

According to Ronald and Thomas (2001), the fear of liberal government can be overcomed by choosing the majority of the citizens who can vote for the citizens. The tyranny of the majority has a decisive influence on the opinions and ideas conveyed in society. In a democracy, people just waiting to lose their individuality to blend into the mass. Ideas majority exert such a hold on the minds of people that swim against the current becomes a risky and marginal (Ronald, Thomas, 2001).
