Research Methodology

The study is actually based on the gathering of secondary data. The study have utilized journals, peer reviewed scholarly articles and related available online content. The utilized information from secondary data includes past literature, broadcast media, publications and other sources. Moreover, the study has adopted quantitative and qualitative approach for data collection. But, most of the data in the study is based on qualitative methodology. This method is less costly as compared to other method for data collection.

Research Method

The adopted methodology in the study is based on secondary research and qualitative method for data collection because it is considered to be less costly as compared to other methods for data collection. This method is getting remarkably effective for the purpose of the study. It becomes more preferable for researchers in situations where valued measurement is not required (Hammersley 2007).

Consequently, qualitative method is most preferred in this type of non-positivist approach. A large number of journals, databases and libraries were taken into account to gain comprehensive insight of the research topic. Databases, for instance, Google Scholar, EBSCO, Search Premier and Pro-Quest have been taken into account for the research. The primary keywords included for the search includes Cognitive and affective behaviour, instructors and inmate, academics and attendance improvement. GED and ABE.

From the above three points, the deductive approach is most suitable for the chosen research method. This is because research has been undertaken to help the researcher to know the decrease of cognitive and affective behavior by instructors and inmates in private correctional facility through improved academics and attendance with inmates. The process will consequently involve entering into participants' behavior to understand what is going on to gain rich insight into their attitudes, beliefs and fears regarding their career.

Data Analysis Method

It was important for the study to gather major facts and figures to take into account to analyze the accumulated literature in organized manner. Assessment was done of the collected data while considering real life examples to show the reality element. Qualitative data analysis consists of data analysis and data interpretation. Assessment involves breaking down the raw data and then the researcher reconstitutes the data into categories, and other steps are linked to development of themes, propositions and concepts.

In inductive thought, the researcher deduces principle from a number of particulars obtained during data collection. Deductive thought involves testing the principle derived in inductive thought by subjecting it to new discourse particulars. As already noted, qualitative data analysis broaden to interpretation of data. In data interpretation, the researcher relies on abduction of thoughts.
