Memorial Union of Iowa State University

Since I joined this school, I go through the Memorial Union every morning. This building gives me the spirit of being a college student and it boosts up my energy levels because of the special atmosphere in this particular building. The external design is the state of the art. It catches my attention in this building. In addition, the hotel and the rest of utilities and services that are offered by this building are very good. In this paper, I will discuss the exterior design and services and utilities of Memorial Union of Iowa State University. All these features caught my attention and made my education experience most interesting.

External Design

When I came to this small city, the first building I saw was this huge traditional building of the memorial union that obviously has been a stand in its location for quite a long time, but it still keeps its charm. It was built 85 years ago. Its external design was unique and passionate (Memorial Union, n.d.).

The exterior of the memorial union and its main wing had been designed by the Architect of the university, Arthur Pearbody. This university was opened in the year 1928. Wisconsin Union, a membership organization, runs this university. There is Memorial union Terrace in the outer side of the main building. It also has an outdoor dining and recreation areas facing the shore of Lake Mendota. The daughter of Peabody, Charlotte designed this terrace. It is renowned place for students to socialize with each other and local people. This place has scenery of the lake and sailboats. People can enjoy there in the evening with a sound of live music, which is free for public, but paid by student fees (Hill & Madden, 2006).
