Assessment Process

Process of screening and evaluating

Screening is important to recognize which children need special education. It is initially conducted by schools to cater the needs of all its students. Screening can be done through test or interview to find out the disabilities within the children. Depending on the results of the students, students can be referred to the educational evaluation as the next level. The teacher may also recognize that the child faces difficulties in learning during the classroom session. If the teacher recognizes that there is lack of learning demonstrated by the student then the teacher may follow two pre-referral interventions (nichcy.org).

The teachers must help the students to help the student with the behavior and learning. Firstly, the intervention has to be planned and must be in written form. If the two interventions do not help the student, then educational evaluation has to be conducted. Learning assessment is to compare what children know and know about the goals and situation before starting the course. The purpose of formative evaluation is aimed at assessing processes, which involves the collection of useful or meaningful over them, their goal is to improve and perfect the process of evaluation to know when difficulties arise or to detect situations that favors learning, it is better able to take action more in line with what the student needs to achieve educational goals. This is particularly important in reference to the educational needs to support regulation between teaching and learning. This raises an adjustment to the educational characteristics. In short, learning processes and yields are closely linked. The evaluation process focused on the teaching and learning offers a convenient route for student assessment (as) in general, as well as those with special educational needs. This evaluation is an interactive character that it is clearly related to the concept of special educational needs widespread in terms of the characteristics and needs of students in relation to the answers that the school environment is to them.

Educational evaluations are assessments where the information of the student is tested to check if the student needs related services to the special education. Educational evaluation is important to recognize the disabilities within the student. It is also important to evaluate if the student qualifies for the special education services so that the school can plan the education for the child which is known as individual education program/plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP). The information retrieved from the evaluation helps the school write down the individual plan for the child. The information retrieved makes the school knows where the student stands in the learning and making progress. From this information, the IEP can also be amended, when required (Lerner, 1998).

The educational evaluation refers about the strengths and weaknesses of the students. The team members of IEP take major decisions related to the evaluations. The information may be amended with time to time. Depending on the evaluation, the re-evaluation can be required. The information will also help the team members ...
