This document is essentially an assessment plan proposed to the dean of the City University along with all the members of the committee of assessment planning, comprising of the dean and other prominent faculty members of the City University.
The essential reason behind implementation of an assessment plan is to redefine processes of assessment to incorporate a continuous feedback cycle to re-evaluate performance areas that need improvement. Thus forth, the document would provide the relevant committees of the institute an assessment plan that would be based on solid research founding. Furthermore, a summarization of the value of learning outcome assessment would also be provided.
Assessment is done at two levels. In the first step, students' previous knowledge is measured in the form of admission test or pre-test. The second level, which is the area of interest, is the assessment during the enrollment of student in the university. There are various assessment methods which are practiced in the education institutions e.g. subjective, objective, self, interactive, group and participation assessment. Planning for assessment in the educational institution includes determination of student affairs in the present and future. It sets the best path for the students which they want to achieve by applying different processes (Jones & Black, 2009; Suskie, 2009).
Proposed Assessment Model
The proposed assessment plan would be based on a process based structure. The first step in the planning of the assessment system is the brainstorming. At this level, our most important questions should be; about the role, method, integration and stakeholders of assessment in the institution. In the planning phase, we have to find out the focus group, define the role of each stakeholder, discussing the problems, inviting opinions from different intellectuals and soliciting the responses. ...
