Description of topics and students

The test built is an objective test which is verbal. The test is constructed by the teacher. The purpose of the test is to assess the knowledge, comprehension and analysis of the students about the subject and its related topics. This collective criterion-reference test is constructed for the 11th grade American literature covering the last five chapters of 'Jane Eyre'. The test will assess the level of comprehension, their knowledge gained during lectures and higher level taxonomic levels of material covered during the chapters, which will formulate the final grade for the subject. The students will be introduced to the themes, characters, key terms, literature, vocabulary, story, use of vocabulary and other literature related learning. The results will assess and sum up the grades for the students in the subject of American Literature.

The test will include multiple choice questions; true false, completion, and matching. The instructions for this subject of study have been done with the following methods: lectures from teacher, learning from group's assignments to achieve the view from different perspectives on the novel, character mapping (story building, theme making and other literature-related activities), oral reports on the understanding of the passages with the help of dialogues, thoughts and feelings from the characters, formulation of the story.

This unit of study includes this novel which is an important study for the 11th graders. Though, it is not all-inclusive, therefore other novels were also included before. The test is not incorporates the whole story of the novel. It only covers the last 5 chapters asked from only 20 questions during the test. For the assessments of the students in understanding of the material, this test is incomplete and more tests are required in the future.

Reviewers

Two reviewers were selected to review the draft test. One was classmate, John Carry who is current teacher of American Literature with 5 years of experience and other is the current senior colleague, Mrs. Fernandez who has been teaching American Literature since past 14 years. Both reviewers noticed the draft and gave their comments and suggestions.
