Visual communication refers to the process of communication with the help of the picture and images and can also be defined as the reflection of some messages and information through visual aids. This communication depends on the exposure of the image that is how long the exposure was and how the viewer evaluated the meaning of the picture message.

The image in figure 1 shows a boat full of people with another boat behind in the picture. The image is of small size that is negatively gazed. The negatively gazed image means that the exposure would not have a great impact on the viewer as compared to the larger picture. The shot size which is also known as the social distance though is 6 by 4 inches approximately but due to minor difference in the dimensions the picture has much more social distance (Kress & Leeuwen, 2006, 47-59).
According to the colours used in the picture the image reflects the cool and light theme making the mood of the viewer soft and clam. This is because the colours mainly in the image are blue, and sea green. Apart from this, the picture is also light in brightness which also reflects the liveliness of the image. The modality of the picture is on the higher side which depicts that the picture is real. The picture is real form the view point of the viewer. This means that due to the high modality the picture seems real to the viewer. Moreover, the picture is a naturalistic. This means that the picture is a standardized picture standardization of the picture shows the coding orientation of image (Kress & Leeuwen, 2006, 116-134).
Due to the cool mood and environment that the picture generates due to the cool colours that has been used in it the hopes of the asylum seekers may raise and they may develop a positive attitude toward the chance of getting asylum (Kress & Leeuwen, 2006, 47-59).

The image in figure 2 shows a person not in a good health being carried by some security guards and some life guards. The image is positively gazed which impacts the viewer much more than the picture in figure 1. This is because the size of the picture is greater than figure 1.
