Values and Ethics apply to both our personal and professional lives. Understanding and implementing values and ethics in everyday practices will promote ones success in personal as well as professional career. This article defines, and identifies sources of professional values and ethics. It also describes how professional values and ethics can affect career success.

Agree and Disagree Points

I am agree with the author opinion that Values and ethics shape our lives over time with the influence of our family, religion and government personnel. Knowing who you are and what you desire out of life and making responsible choices displays the quality of values and ethics you have acquired. Professional values and ethics represent the core of any business and what is prevalent in society. Values and ethics may be unique amongst individuals in a group. Therefore, organizations must insist that employees commit to their values and ethics to achieve overall success.

But I am little disagree with opinion that professional values and ethics are important now more than ever because how come a company come to known that the person is well behaved otr not. As previously exemplified by acts of seemingly unethical behaviour companies are now searching for individuals with strong compliance and ethics. These skills are no longer being cast aside for profit but rather sought out. With strong professional values and ethics one can expect to be retained as the organization grows rather than left behind with the changing times.

Article Critical Analysis

From the article it is observed that Ethics can be defined as a process of evaluating actions according to moral principal of values. Throughout the centuries people were trying to choose between profit and moral. Perhaps, some of them obtain both, but every time it could have roused ethical issues. Those issues concern fairness, justice, rightness or wrongness; as a result it can only be resolved according to ethical standards. Setting the ethical standards for the way of doing business in corporation is primarily task of management. Corporations have to maintain the same standards as an individual person and, in addition, corporations, as organizational units, have their own social responsibilities toward customers, employees and society. However, any business should keep its original purpose of functioning - making profit. Balancing the traditional standards of profitability and burden of social responsibilities is not an easy task. In recent years it has been a trend of setting standards of corporate ethics according to high degree of morale.

Also it is analyzed that Ethics in business is a concept that has come to mean various things to various people, but it is generally based on the principle of doing what is right in the workplace. Business ethics is about prioritizing moral values for the workplace and ensuring behaviours are aligned with those values. Many view business ethics as value management.
