Artcle 1: Play in the kindergarten: the case of Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and Japan
Introduction
In this article Evanthia Synodi conducted the study of kindergarten curricula of Norway, Sweden, Japan and New Zealand. The study was designed to assess the provisions which are recommend a teacher to use unify play and pedagogy. The reason for selection of these counties into the study was their geographical and cultural differences and these countries represent different continents of the world (Synodi, 2010, pp. 185-200). The study assesses the curricula of these countries as it either allows or restricts them to use pedagogy of play in the kindergarten however; they express official state expectations in children play and learning.
