Introduction

Healthcare system of United States is very different from healthcare system of many European countries. When compared to rest of the world, U.S healthcare is the most expensive one. Unlike other developed countries, the U.S. has universal coverage system. Universal healthcare has become debatable topic since the Obama made this top priority of creating affordable healthcare for all citizens of America. The health system in the United States is characterized by contradictions and complexity. In this paper we are going to review two main articles related to the health care crisis and special issues of healthcare. The purpose of this paper is to let readers know about some issues of healthcare system of United States.

Article# 1

The first article we are going to review is written by Robin Wells and Paul Krugnam in 2006 named as Healthcare Crisis and What to Do about It. In this article the authors has addressed health crisis of America and in detail discussed problems of adverse selection inn insurance markets (Krugman & Wells, 2006). In this article the authors has reviewed the injusutcie and inefficiency of fragmented public or private health system. The author in this article gave a good news is that toady we know much more about the healthcare as compared to the time of Clinton's administration. We have seen huge positive difference in the practice of U.S. He says but the problem with healthcare system is fragmentation. Failure to introduce universal insurance system has left us with failed system.

This article explains eighty twenty rule, it means that 80% of health expenses are on account of 20% of twenty. So far, the facility of health insurance given to employee has benefited employers but now the health cost are so high that employers are not able to cut enough benefits to stay competitive. It is suggested that we can have better system if learn from integrated systems like administration of Veterans that directly provide some healthcare and medical insurance because they have already introduced electronic medical records which is doing better than a private chain of hospital because its patients stay with it for years. The administration of Veterans has also invested systematically and heavily in preventive care because not like private healthcare providers it expect to realize financial benefits from measures that keep its clients out of hospital (Cathy, 2005). This article provides an effienctoverview of Medicaid and Medicare that shows that gobvernemnt give half of healthcare spending. It is noted that we can have single payer health insurance system if authorities expand Medicare to cover the whole population. The authors have effectively compared healthcare of developed countries such as U.K., Canada, U.S. and France on number of economic, health services, and health status parameters (Krugman & Wells, 2006). This article is a good review of existing economic status of healthcare system and on implementation of single payer system.
