The article discusses the Overcoming Centralization, Complacency and Politics in Homeland security. For this purpose, Department of Homeland Security is discussed which is a department of cabinet established by the federal government of United States. Creation of this department was in response to the 9/11 attack with a primary motive of protection of state against terrorist activities and attacks. Department of Homeland Security works to ensure the safety and protection of the assets and citizens of the State. Their responsibilities include counterterrorism, border security, immigration, cyber security and the preparedness, response and recovery of after disaster effects.

Conviction can be understood as the solid root for the mission of the department's Infrastructure Protection division and information analysis. This holds that timely and thorough analysis are in cloise relation with the the disruption of terrorist activities , and similarly the in contact with the dissemination of information about terrorist groups.

The study of this article is certainly unique as Homeland security has been a great concern for every nation since the time from its development. Soon after 9/11, United States launched Department of Homeland Security to take preventive actions against terrorist activities and attacks.

Homeland Security is the term used for the efforts a State make to maintain its security level and ensure a peaceful and terror-free environment in the country. Special attention was given to this term in the year 2011 when a significant event of terrorist attack took place in the United States. This measure for security is adopted by the State, to take preventative measures for combating terrorism and recovering process after any damage is caused by terrorist attacks. Response to disasters and immigration checks is also covered under the scope of Homeland Security. In this article, it is analyzed that the intelligence is central to everything DHS does.
