Various objects placed in museum so that we could know about our ancestor, about their culture, and beliefs. In this paper I am going to select five objects from the collection of a museum showing Roman and Greek's representation of Celebrations and death in their vases. These five objects are going to tell readers about the way that Ancient Greek's though about Celebrations and death. All the objects will be taken from the online database of metropolitan museum.
Terracotta Loutrophoros
Terracotta Loutrophoros is a ceremonial vase for water belongs to late classical period, it represents mix culture of South Italian, Greek, and Apulian. On the main body of the vase there is male deity adjudicating between Aphrodite and Persephone and on the lid there is head of women. This vase is representing themes of death and luxuriant vegetation is complementing the underworld. The myth of rebirth after death of Adonis is attached with seasonal change; it has symbolized an accurate theme for funeral vase (Richter, 1912). The loutrophoros is a variant of the jar but she particularly distinguished by its neck extended and its function. It is used to hold water for the nuptial bath and toilet funeral. It pointed out the graves of singles; the bottom is perforated to allow communication with the dead. Snakes modeled in relief adorn the mouth, the handles and the shoulder of the vase, confirming its funerary function, this animal is traditionally linked to the chthonic underworld.
Terracotta Stamnos
Terracotta Stamnos is a jar belongs to classical period and culture of Greek, Attic. Obverse, Dionysos, the god of wine, on donkey with two satyrs (his male followers). Reverse, two maenads (female followers of Dionysos) and young satyr. In Etruscan tombs is quite usual for the presence of imported Greek pottery, such as this red-figure stamnos made in Attica. The main side describes the output of two warriors. This is the eponymous stamnos Guglielmi Painter, which owes its name to the collection just exposed in this room today, conventional name of a painter's style penthouse Polygnotos supporter and Kleophon painter (Bothmer, 1972).
