Descriptive visual analysis and comparison of any piece of art requires complete and detailed knowledge regarding that piece of art. “The Metropolitan Museum of Art” is an excellent place for understanding and visually analyzing art as it contains several excellent and extra ordinary works of art. However, the art work of the 19th and early 20th century present at the “Metropolitan Museum of Art” is ideal for enhancing skills related to visual analysis because these works of art are very impressive, extra ordinary, directly intervenes into person's heart thus grasping the attention of mind at once. In order to conduct this assignment, paintings are selected; “Graziella” by Jules-Joseph Lefebvre, “Garde at Vaucresson” by “Edouard Vuillard” and “Catherine Lorillard Wolfe” by “Alexandre Cabanel Wolfe”.
The first piece of art i.e. “Graziella” depicts an excellent piece of work. It indicates the heroine of Alphonse de Lamartine's interesting story of the similar name, which was initially published in the year 1849. The beautiful daughter of the fisherman is well illustrated in this painting, it indicates purity and innocence (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2014). Visual illustration of this painting indicates humbleness, purity, innocence and also the importance of waiting for someone. It is an excellent piece of work and directly enters into one's heart and reflects a perfect meaning of peace. Graziella is in portrait form and the medium of this work is oil on canvas.
