The earliest painting that may be attributed to “Rogier van der Weyden” with any assurance is also the artist's one of the most influential and greatest existing work i.e. “the great deposition”. However, this work may be regarded as Rogier's most interesting and impressive work. As a work of art, this painting was planned for a chapel in Leuven, but in the 16th century it fell into the hands of Spanish. However, today, it is at “Prado in Madrid”.
