If the profession is a compensated occupation which involves extensive training and education, than Army, undoubtedly is a profession. The army white paper lists some characteristics of a profession as one which produces substantially unique work, which requires, years of studying and practice, motivate using extrinsic versus intrinsic factors and posses a self-policing ethic. The army meets all of the above criteria. The profession of arms campaign was started in order to refine the understanding of army officers and leaders on being professionals. However, are all soldiers professionals? Senior officers obtain extensive training and education and are thus considered as professional. While, junior listed soldiers does not meet the requirements of professional. Thus, the army can be said as a profession of arms, but only senior soldiers acquire advanced and formal education and training. They can not be considered professional. The army is a profession of arms and requires extensive and continuing education for Noncommissioned Officers (NCO). Soldiers are introduced to the army values, and they are taught the basic and specific knowledge about their profession. The army men are taught regarding the ethics and standards of army. They have to follow the standards, strictly. The maintenance and enforcement of standards and values needs a strong and continuing commitment to one's work and profession. Usually the decision makers and drivers of the policies are highly trained and experienced people in the army. They are the true advocate of the profession of arms. They are the face of professionalism.
