Abstract

Arman Frenandaz, French, was born in 1928 in Nice. His work predominantly included abstract paintings. His early creations witnessed different forms of abstract painting. After successful reactions from his first accumulation, he further began constructing accumulations of similar metal objects witnessing power of such art. In 1973, after becoming American Citizen he changed his name to Arman Pierre Arman and continued to use Arman in public. He was socially active and was President of the New York Chapter of Artists for Amnesty International. This famous artist died in New York in October 2005.

Introduction

French born American artist Armand Pierre Frenandez was born in Nice in 1928. He is one of the popular figures of the international artistic landscape of the twentieth century. His father worked as an antiques dealer in Nice, the artist showed his precious talent in drawings and paintings as a child. From early childhood, Arman absorbed an intense appreciation for music and art. He started drawing in the age of 10. His devotion and dedication for art and civilization took him to the Ecole Nationale des Arts Decoratifs in Nice. Arman went to Paris to study art history from Ecole du Lovre. Arman enjoyed Europe trips with his friends Yves Klein and Pascale frequently and these trips inspired him throughout his life in his artistic work apart from art reviews and books. His love and passion for poetry helped him emerged as a lyrical abstract painter in his initial phase of his career but, soon he found his interest in making sculptures and continued pursuing it as a profession.
