Introduction

The phenomenon of science and religion has always been a source of conflict among sociologist. Different theories have been introduced to explain the two paradigms. The debate on the compatibility and conflict of science and religion has been quite common and ongoing. This has resulted in formation of two groups, one believe that both the institutions are in conflict, while other believe in the compatibility. In addition, some believe that both institutions complement each other. Both science and religion have been the topic of discussion for ages, in fact proponents of compatibility argument have surrendered that religion could co exists with science. Therefore it can be said Science and Religion in Conflict on many grounds.

Are Science and Religion in Conflict?

In many instance science and religion look conflicting spheres. The most common example is creation of earth and evolution. One religious view suggests that it would be “creation science” which believes that God has created the universe and every creation on earth is dependent on one supernatural power. Many proponents of religion believe that God has created earth and species thereon to make world more beautiful. However, this does not fit in with the scientific, naturalistic evolution view which is most often taken as "encyclopedia" truth. The evolution theory negates the idea of religion and suggests that planet Earth is approximately 4.54 billion years old, that life appeared on its surface within a billion years and that, humans and many other animals evolved into a distinct species from another (Draper, 1998).

Scientists conflict between Religion and Science

Social science research have established an understanding, that how scientist interpret the connection between science and religion. One research was conducted to find out the inclination of general population towards and scientist negating the notion. In early 20th century James Leuba said that since scientists are belonging from elite class they would reject religion. A second research was conducted by Carnegie Commission whose work was dedicated to encounter the conflict hypothesis. The findings of the research suggested that since social scientists are less religious than natural scientists; they are less committed toward religion.

Objective and subjective approach
