In the ancient times (specifically in Ancient Egypt) woods were scarce and the available material for building homes and structures was baked mud brick and stones. In those times stone was primarily reserved for tombs and temples. In addition to that, bricks were the primary building material that was used for royal palaces, fortresses, and similar other structures. The huge structures in the form of pyramids that even highlight the earlier history of Ancient Egypt were made from stone mined in the area beforehand. On the other hand limestone, which was used to face the pyramids were brought in from the other side of the Nile River. The process of their usage included them to be quarried, shipped across, and incise during the dry season before they could be placed into the pyramid (Barrett, 2010). This tells that the available architecture that has been preserved for the world to see the Early Egyptian civilization could have been better if early houses were saved from being disappeared due their situation in cultivated area of the Nile. Flood from Nile destroyed the evidence of a beautiful artistry from earlier Egyptian architects.
