Introduction

This essay is based on the scenario that an African-American not being promoted in the police organization due to the case of relative ranking. The name of the person is John. He is reporting to his Senior Manager which is highly discriminatory. On the other hand, the Manager in Human Resource Department is highly supportive, who had promised John that he will raise the voice against the racial discrimination practices in organization in board of directors meeting.

Direct discrimination means that someone is disadvantaged by being treated less favourable than another in a comparable situation, and this is related to sex, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other belief, disability, sexual orientation or age. The employer must prove that the unfair treatment is not about discrimination. This was seen in the case as the officer was not promoted due to being a minority, rather than on merit. The reason for promotion for any job should be the performance and character of the person, if the person meets the criteria than there is no reason to not promote them.

Any person would feel degraded and frustrated for not being promoted in an organization because of the discrimination. The discrimination is to be found particularly in the field of law enforcement. The duty of these agencies is to make sure that the laws are implemented, and there is no violation. The police are supposed to set an example for the citizens to look up to and adapt. If the practice is followed in such a level of organization, than what will be the impact on the regular citizens. The people of the African American will feel the pinch of discrimination that will cause them to rebel against the system. If the people in the police force do not perform their duty with full commitment than the ordinary citizens will suffer as they will not get the service that the police are supposed to give. Racial discrimination should be avoided in all forms.

Policies to fight against inequalities in the workplace have been a transformation in Australia with the establishment of community employment market. Gradually, there is less use of quota policies and state subsidies. The objective of the new policy is to drive markets to guide the behaviour of economic actors by marrying a flexible regulation. There are three ways to implement these policies: outreach, monitoring and mainstreaming. The consequences of employment discrimination can significantly harm the person who is the victim. Following his personality, everyone reacts differently.
