Application Essay for Doctorate of Education

The experience that I have had with teaching has helped me to identify the need to do something transformational for urban schools and poor children. As transformational leaders perform the work of consciousness- raising at a large scale, these leaders work to make sure that the people realize what is correct and proposes actions to ensure that the issues at consideration are resolved. I have a clear vision of what I want to achieve and the courage to face the challenges that I'll come across in achieving my goals. I also have the self motivation and ability to inspire others to achieve the desired goals. I also have the ability to treat the people as a team and give equal importance to each of them. I have the capability to create awareness about the pressing issues among the parents, teachers and schools. The need to improve the system that runs the school can only be achieved by being a transformational leader.

There are many urban schools in the community that need to change the way they are providing education. By being a transformational leader, I will change the way these schools are being run. I will introduce new ways which will enhance the quality of education in the school. I will make the teachers act as practitioners rather than just giving knowledge to the students. The other important factor that has further strengthened my decision of getting a doctorate degree in transformational leadership is the children in poverty who do not get good education or facilities. I want to improve their living standards and provide them with better educational facilities so that every child gets proper education. I want to promote long term strategic planning in schools so that the mission of the schools will be clearly set and then take proper actions to achieve that mission. By being a transformational leader, I will also focus on building teams in schools so that every individual that is linked to the school will feel equally important in doing something for the school. I can only take these initiatives by getting a doctorate degree in transformational leadership. This degree will not only help me achieve my passion but rather it will also provide benefits to the children who have a thirst for knowledge.
