Task 1 (a): Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Qualities

The skills, knowledge, experience and personal qualities are very significant for the determination of the potential of the individual. I have listed my skills, knowledge, experience and personal qualities below:

My skill to get on the with the individuals belonging to different background will enable me to effectively communicate and interact with the patients from different cultures and ethincites. Teamwork and time management are the most significant skills which are crucial for all the employees in any organization. Time management is even more important in the medical field as every minute is crucial for the health of the patient. Teamwork is also significant in the medical field and especially for the nurses as they have to work with other nurses and doctors for the betterment of the patients.

Knowledge

Knowledge of health and safety

Numeracy/Writing

Knowledge of Anatomy and physiology

The knowledge of health and safety will enable me to provide proper care to the patients and will be able to take appropriate measures in case of an emergency and inability of the doctor. The knowledge of anatomy and physiology is a significant way to ensure better phisological care of the patient. Numeracy and writing will enable me to write out a detailed report about the patient which will be easily understood by other medical professionals.

Working with people with learning disabilities/dementia

Experience gained with working with vulnerable adults

Personal life experience

My experience with working with disabled individuals as well patients with dementia, along with working with vulnerable adults will be an appropriate experience which is required for an adult nurse.

Adult nursing is all about dealing with and taking care of adult patients, it involves nurturing to frequent and changing demands of the elderly. It is job that requires constant attention and utmost care. It is a job which has constant pressure. I have acquired abilities to work under pressure and taking risks which can make the tasks easier for me.

Task 1 (b): SWOT Analysis

To increase the likelihood of succeeding in life, an individual has to utilize his talents and skills to the maximum extent. The individual will face fewer problems, if the weaknesses and potential threats are determined and handled appropriately. For this the individual must know what his/her real strengths and weakness are. SWOT analysis is a valuable tool for identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities as well as threats (Fagermoen, 1997, pp. 36). The SWOT analysis is a powerful due to the fact that assist the individual or an organization to determine and uncover the opportunities and the potential threats which are faced that otherwise wouldn't have been spotted.
