Michael Vick's speech regarding his plea of guilty in District Court of U.S., to a dog fighting conspiracy is following:

“I am really sorry. This is the thing from which I need to start my speech.

This is my feeling of regret and shame. Expressing me in front of thousands of people sitting who are angry with me, and also are right at their place, is really a big challenge. What I did was awful. (David, 2007)

I do not have any excuses for what I did. My heart is really hurt now on thinking what I have done. I am going to be honest here; it took me a while to come over here in front of you all.

Sitting in a jail did not make me feel regret. I met so many animal lovers; I spoke to them and looked into their eyes. Stared at them; and looked really deep into their eyes that I began feeling their pain.

I allowed that pain to enter in my body when I started understanding how bad it really was what I did. I am really trying hard to attach to people who feel this kind of pain, since my whole life I was far away from the animals.

Now you people may say to me that how could I do those terrible things to the dogs? For that you are right... I also ask myself these questions almost every day. How can anybody treat an animal like that?

I have been a football player for most of my life, and not a speaker; therefore you may understand; I do not know how to say all that I want to.

First of all, I want to say sorry, you know, for everything I did and that I allowed happening. I want to personally make an apology to commissioner Goodell, Coach Bobby Petrino, Arthur Blank, my teammates, for our preceding discussions. (Mihoces, 2007).

I want to say sorry to all the young kids for my stupid act. I really ask for pardon and now I am moving ahead to be better as a person, not as a player (Mihoces, 2007).

I am taking total blame on myself for what I did. I will not try to make anybody else responsible for what I did. I am completely responsible for that, and that just happened because of me. But now I feel that sometimes in life ...
