What Effects Does Age Have On Graduation Rates From Online Based College?

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the online graduation courses availability and its impact on age. Through the in-depth analysis and observation, it was found that the older students make different choices about their courses in comparison with younger students. After doing the analysis of the topic, three key observations were deduced fron the available data which include the number of questions asked from the older students about the content of courses, encouraging factor for opting the required course, positive feedback from instructor and connection between the ages. A review has also been included in this research which supports the above observations. This study is is substantial to meet the requirements of adult students who are less confortable with traditional college based education.

Introduction

There is no denying of the fact that American system of education is considered as the provider of one of the best quality education to the people of the entire world. However, most of the teenagers who enter college for acquiring higher education unfortunately could make their way to the graduation and become college drop-outs. This happens because of the shifting tendencies of the students regarding the courses which are included in this curriculum and their failure to understand the course outline.

Study suggests that only 33% of the freshman who makes their entrance in the University of Massachusetts, were able to complete their education within the period of 6 years. Moreover, less than 44% of students from University of Mexico and 41% graduate from the University of Montana made their way to finally pass the college(Pascarella, & Terenzini, 2005). One of the fine economists in the current era, Mark Schneider considers the high college dropout rate for the slow development in the country.

The United States of America does provide a good job to the teenagers in college, but only half of them wants to go for college degree. According to Light, (2001) it is identified that the cause of the college dropout is a very serious issue which requires a comprehensive strategy to resolve it.

Online education, in the recent years, has become a great source for saving money. According to Kuh et.al, (2010) School with the physical counterpart might be the more expensive in nature as an individual can save hundred dollars on parking, commuting and the additional expenses as it compare with online based education. The major purpose of this study is to examine the failing of graduation rate in college students and determine the key solution for adult's students.
